Diabetic clinic

We like to make sure that all our diabetic patients receive a high standard of regular care. Dr Shavi Chana runs this clinic with one of our Practice Nurses.

Time: Wednesday 10am – 1pm

Minor surgery

This is by appointment after prior consultation with the doctor.

Asthma

Please book an appointment with Sian or Alina, our Practice Nurses, for your annual Asthma check.

Maternity care

We provide care in pregnancy in conjunction with Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the Devenport Team Midwives. In nearly all cases, the majority of your antenatal care will be carried out in the practice by the doctor and midwives.

Pre-conception

Pre-conception advice (ie general information on how to be healthy before you become pregnant) can be obtained from the doctors. It is sensible to have a routine check for German Measles (Rubella) before starting a family, since infection can cause problems for the unborn child.

Cervical smears

These tests are carried out by Sian and Alina. We would like all women to have a regular test which is simple and takes a few minutes. When your next test is due you will be sent an invitation to attend.

Family planning

Family Planning is offered during routine surgeries when we are able to offer you a full range of confidential services and advice including contraceptive injections and prescriptions. Please feel free to see Alina or Sian, Practice Nurses during normal surgery hours.

LARC Services

Coils and implants (fitting and removal) are now carried out in local Hub Clinics. Please ask the Receptionist about making an appointment for one of these services.

Child health services

We work closely with the Community Paediatricians and Health Visitors in providing child health services and we run a child surveillance clinic on Thursday afternoons with one of our GPs and one of our Practice Nurses for 8 week development checks and Primary immunisations.

Smoking Cessation

Smoking Cessation Clinics are now held in local Hub Clinics across the Borough. Please ask at Reception if you wish to make an appointment for this service.

Chronic heart disease

Our Practice Nurse, Sian, can review patients with chronic heart disease. The aim of this review is to monitor heart disease and ensure all patients are taking the best possible medication to protect their hearts.

Travel Vaccinations

Due to contract changes we are not able to offer Travel Advice or Private travel vaccinations . If you are travelling abroad and you think you may need vaccinations or Malaria Tablets you will need to ask advice from an independent Travel Service. There may be a charge for this. There are many choices and information is available online. – see websites below. Most larger Pharmacies ie Boots/Superdrug, some smaller Pharmacies and Pharmacies in supermarkets, may offer this service.  Travel services vary in cost so it pays to shop around.

Plan to consult with your choice of Travel Service at least 4 weeks before you travel, some recommended vaccinations require multiple doses.

If you have been advised to have the following vaccinations we are able to provide them FREE OF CHARGE AND DEPENDANT ON STOCK.

Hepatitis A,          Typhoid,           Combined Hepatitis A & Typhoid,    Tetanus, Diphtheria and Polio given as combined Td/IPV vaccine

Again, please book appointments with our Practice Nurses at least 4 weeks before you travel.
